Christian Escoudé is one of the heavy hitters of the jazz guitar scene. His duets with Philip Catherine, Larry Corryell, Bireli Lagrene and John Mac Laughlin stress the point. His style is resolutely modern but the gypsy flourishes and accents are omnipresent. His phrasing is full of warmth and generosity whilst he has a very personal manner in his utilization of scales. In his latest album Ma Ya he revisits the World of Django using a harmonious fusion of bop and manouche.

Stochelo Rosenberg is the main man behind the highly renowned Rosenberg Trio. His talent is supreme and his unique tremolo style punctuates impressive musical flourishes, clearly demonstrating that technique and emotion are not mutually exclusive. To more traditional themes he pays homage to Charlie Parker, Stevie Wonder or Jimmy Smith, all ‘swinged up’ in true gypsy style with a smattering of emotion, a slice of fun, and just a smidgeon of insanity.

Didier Lockwood, Martin Taylot, Jean-Philippe Viret
Didier Lockwood is a violinist renowned throughout the World for his talents as composer and improviser. He has made a mark in jazz circles by creating a very personal sound. After having undergone classical training, he discovered the possibilities of improvisation and began turning towards greater musical freedom. At the age of 17 he moved into progressive rock with the band Magma. Then, at the age of 21 he got involved in jazz and was picked up by Stephane Grappelli. Indeed, his 30 odd years of career have seen him rub shoulders with the likes of Miles Davis, Frank Zappa, Dave Brubeck, Herbie Hancock, Al Di Meola, Michel Petrucciani and Claude Nougaro, to name drop but a few. In that time he has also recorded some 30 albums in Europe and the USA and given around 3,500 concerts throughout the World in the most prestigious concert halls.

Martin Taylor was the former partner in crime of Stephane Grappelli and is a World reference of solo jazz guitar playing. In his hands, the instrument becomes an orchestra whilst his technique and the beauty of his arrangements make him a unique maestro of this difficult specialty. He was made an MBE (one the highest distinctions of merit issued by the Queen) for “services rendered to music”. His long collaboration with Stephane Grappelli and his mastery of all musical genres make him an ideal partner for Didier Lockwood.
